Monroe County School Board GEMS (Great Educational Moments)

The Monroe County School District’s first batch of Summer GEMS include the Marathon High School Athletic Department led by Director Teresa Konrath, and Drs. Kathy Lancaster and Lois Wolfe Markham, coordinators for the Marathon Writes district-wide literacy contest.

MHS Athletic Department received a GEM for receiving the Fredd E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award for a second year.

The coordinators of Marathon Writes received a GEM for their expansion of the contest district-wide and their great community collaborative efforts with the Florida Keys Council of the Arts, Florida Keys Community College, Monroe County Libraries, and The Division of Cultural Affairs.
