MONROE COUNTY FIRE RESCUE RESPONDS TO TRAILER FIRE ON STOCK ISLAND; NO INJURIES

STOCK ISLAND, FL – At 3:10 a.m. Tuesday, Monroe County Fire Rescue responded to a fire at 5176 Suncrest Road on Stock Island. Three occupants of a double-wide trailer got out of the home safely with no injuries.

The fire badly damaged the trailer, as well as two cars (a Cadillac sedan and Audi coupe), a Ford F-350 pickup truck, two mopeds and a personal watercraft that were on the property.

Monroe County Fire Rescue’s Engine 8 from the Stock Island station arrived first, followed by other crews from Stock Island, Big Coppitt Key, Cudjoe Key and Sugarloaf Key. The fire was under control by 3:45 a.m. It was extinguished at 4:15 a.m.

The adjoining property at 5100 Suncrest Road – the Suncrest Mini Self-Storage – suffered minor damage to the exterior wall and roof eve.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office helped to evacuate the area.

Monroe County Fire Rescue Deputy Fire Marshal Craig Marston is investigating the cause of the fire.
