Monica Rusconi Named Regional Disaster Officer for the South Florida Red Cross
Miami, FLA (August 10, 2023) – The American Red Cross South Florida Region names Monica Rusconi as its new Regional Disaster Officer.
In this role, Rusconi will oversee the successful implementation of the volunteer-led disaster cycle services program throughout the region, which serves nearly 8 million people across 13 counties.
She will work with community-based, non-governmental and faith-based organizations, along with key emergency management staff. She will also serve in various leadership roles during times of disaster, for any scale of disaster, for region, division, or nationwide.
“I am so grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our South Florida Community in my new position,” said Rusconi.
Rusconi has been with the Red Cross for the past 10 years serving in several disaster program roles, including Specialist, Manager, and Senior Program Manager. Operations include the Florida International University bridge collapse, Surfside condominium collapse, Parkland shooting, Hurricane Florence, Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Maria, Hurricane Ian, and the Broward Floods.
She has also served as Job Director, Deputy Director, Assistant Director of Operations, and Shelter Manager on disaster Relief operations. In addition to her roles and responsibilities, she was an Interim Regional Volunteer Services Officer.
Prior to her work at the Red Cross, Rusconi was with the Housing Authority of the City of Homestead for 12 years.
Rusconi has a passion for serving the community and working within Disaster Services. Her hobbies include cooking, decorating, gardening, and spending time outdoors and at the beach. She currently resides in South Miami Dade.
