Well well, I let my subscription of the Key West Citizen lapse for 8 weeks while I was on vacation in St. Pete Beach and too busy to do anything about it when I got back home. I finally renew it on Sunday 20th Oct, and as I skip through the comics to get to Solares Hill…….. nothing. Not there. Must be a glitch with the download I think. Try again. Still not there. Doug Mader is in a new section which seems odd. A little detective work and I find it is now no more !! I used to enjoy Solares Hill. (Probably more so than the parent newspaper) I liked Mark’s take on things and his interesting comments and stories. Shame on the Citizen and I doubt I will bother to renew my subscription next time it elapses. I hope all is well with Mark Howell. From where I live in Scotland, the limited correspondence I have had with him over the past few years, Mark always came over as a person of decency and integrity. But the advertisers would seem to be the controlling force here and they trouble themselves with neither of those virtues.
Good luck with everything you choose to do Mark.

Mark:
Congratulations on joining Konk Life. Look forward to reading your commentaries.
Hope you will join us Wednesday evening, 5:30-7:30, at Sippin’ Coffee Shop for our “First Amendment Rally and Fundraiser”. I am sure that, with your many years in the newspaper business, you will have much to contribute on the subject.
Hi Mark,
Jenna Stauffer sent me the piece you wrote on ‘Inevitable Harm.’ I appreciate the mention, our topic is a scary, but important subject matter.
-Even better, I found someone I like to read in the KW media again.
I know you only write for what you have passion. With that in mind, many thx.
My husband was a master of story telling or creating enticing yarns. Whether he had lived the stories, dreamed them or knew them from history, he could always leave you wanting more. You knew him by the name of Allen Smith.
He left us with great memories, his writings and his favorite saying,” Man what a ride”.
We lived in Ventura, California and you were a guest in our home many times. If you have any time, I would love to hear from you. He passed away January 2012 and left a void in our world.
Congrats, Mark. Can’t wait for the first missive.
Mark and his column are a wonderful addition to your paper.
Best of luck on your new endeavor, buddy!
