March 18, Karen Beauprie Show at Key West Art Center
The Key West Art Center, proudly presents two shows in one very special exhibit opening Saturday, March 18 from 4-6pm. Local watercolor artist, Karen Beauprie, will show her latest paintings, while in our second floor gallery, Beauprie’s students will display their work from this past season of classes.
Beauprie has been teaching watercolor for ten years in Key West. She began teaching small groups on her porch, but when the class size grew, she moved her students to the White St. Deli and Cafe. From that location, Beauprie has moved around the island with her inspiring brand of teaching watercolor techniques, as well as a variety of styles and methods of simply thinking about art and painting. The Key West Art Center course, “Finding Your Voice In Watercolor”, is designed for her more advanced students. The exhibit they have designed will use the old “clothesline” technique of displaying paintings that was done by the artists of the art center many years ago.
Both exhibits will run from March 18-29 at the Key West Art Center, 301 Front St., 305-294-1241. The Opening Artist Reception will be Saturday, March 18from 4-6pm. As a special treat, Beauprie and her students will be painting a large group painting in the upstairs gallery. This will be a first for the art center, so please come and enjoy the fun!
The Key West Art Center is a non-profit community art gallery located at 301 Front Street, and open every day from 10 am to 5 pm. Call 294-1241 or visit www.keywestartcenter.com for more information.
