Man struck by boat airlifted

An adult male diving for lobster near the Boca Chica Bridge in the Lower Keys was reportedly struck by a boat propeller and flown to a Miami hospital via Trauma Star at approximately 8:09 a.m. Wednesday.

The man was brought ashore at the Key Haven Boat Ramp and Trauma Star landed on the Shark Key Bridge — temporarily blocking U.S. 1 traffic at the Shark Key Bridge.

The man’s condition was not immediately known at the time of this press release.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is the investigating agency.
