Man airlifted after being struck by boat prop

A man out on the water for lobster mini season was reportedly struck by a boat propeller just after 11 a.m. and brought to Conch Key.

The man — he is reportedly not from Monroe County, though his name, age and address remain unavailable — suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his leg and/or foot.

Monroe County Fire Rescue paramedics, the Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission all responded.

The U.S. Coast Guard was also notified and was en route, but it is unclear if they responded to Conch Key when the injured man was brought ashore.

The injured man was taken to Mariners Hospital in Tavernier.

The man was then airlifted to Jackson South Medical Center in Miami thereafter.
