Man cited for undersized fish

A 33-year-old Miami, Florida man was given a mandatory notice to appear in court citation Saturday for possessing an undersized hogfish.

Lower Keys Deputy Jacob Ladd inspected the catch aboard a vessel at the Sunshine Key RV Resort boat ramp at approximately 7:15 p.m. and found an undersized hogfish. Tomas Enrique Oruna Milo claimed ownership of the speared fish.

Suspected marijuana bale found

An Upper Keys mariner found a bale containing suspected marijuana Saturday.

The Sheriff’s Office responded to the Caloosa Cove Resort & Marina in Islamorada at approximately 8:07 p.m. where the mariner came ashore with the 2.8-pound package.

The U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Border Patrol were notified of the incident.
