Man cited for undersized fish

A 22-year-old Miami man was given a mandatory notice to appear in court citation Sunday for harvesting undersized mangrove snapper.

Gary Dhannie Ramjeawan was cited for possession of three undersized mangrove snapper.

Deputy Ana Coello was conducting resource checks at Whale Harbor, Mile Marker 83 in Islamorada, at approximately 9 p.m. when she inspected Ramjeawan’s catch.

Three of the six mangrove snapper in Ramjeawan’s possession were smaller than the 10-inch size limit.

Ramjeawan’s did not possess a measuring device.

The fish were returned to the water dead.
