Man cited for illegal trout

Lower Keys Marine Deputy Ed Swogger issued a mandatory notice to appear in court citation to a 28-year-old Hollis, Maine man on Friday for possessing two illegally-sized trout.

Deputy Swogger stopped a skiff with four anglers near Mile Marker 35 on the Gulfside at approximately 12:06 p.m.

Andrew David Tripp stated he caught some fish, which turned out to be a 12 inch trout and a 13.5 inch trout.

Trout are required to be a minimum of 15 inches and no larger than 19 inches to be legally harvested.
