Man cited for illegal fish
An 18-year-old Marathon, Florida man was given a mandatory notice to appear in court citation for possessing an out-of-season and undersized snook.
Christopher Jeffrey Smith was also cited for not having a snook permit.
The Sheriff’s Office stopped a Nissan sedan on U.S. 1 in Marathon at approximately 11:35 p.m. for suspected illegal window tint. There was an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, of which Smith was a passenger.
The snook was found in a bucket following a search of the vehicle.

Reckless motorist arrested
A 60-year-old Homestead, Florida motorist was arrested Thursday following a traffic stop on U.S. 1 in Key Largo.
Roberto Montenegro Rosales was charged with DUI, possession of cocaine, and possession of pills without a prescription.
The Sheriff’s Office received reports of a southbound Ford SUV that was unable to maintain its lane on the 18-Mile Stretch. The Sheriff’s Office observed the SUV driving similarly and conducted a traffic stop near Mile Marker 106.
A small amount of cocaine and a bottle of prescription pills not prescribed to Montenegro Rosales were subsequently found.
