Man cited for illegal dumping
The Sheriff’s Office issued a mandatory notice to appear in court citation to a 26-year-old Stock Island man on Monday for dumping old furniture on Front Street near Roy’s Trailer Park directly below a “No Dumping $500 Fine” sign.
The Sheriff’s Office has received multiple complaints about illegal dumping in the area.
Lower Keys Detective Spencer Curry responded on March 20 and found parts of a bedframe, headboard and a cardboard box with a shipping label that listed Edrice Archil, a resident of Roy’s Trailer Park, as the receiver.
Detective Curry reviewed security camera footage and on March 11 at approximately 6:39 p.m., a brown Chevrolet sport utility vehicle can be seen in the area. The driver can be seen waiting near the SUV for others to leave the area and then unloading the aforementioned items on the county right-of-way there on Front Street.
Detective Curry combed the area for the brown Chevrolet SUV on Monday and found it in Roy’s Trailer Park. The male driver was wearing the same shirt as the man in the video. The SUV was parked illegally and blocking traffic.
The driver was identified as Archil.
Archil admitted to dumping the trash earlier in the month on Front Street.
Archil agreed to pick up the trash and dispose of it properly.
