Man Charged with Trafficking Meth

On July 11th, the Key West Police Department Special Investigations Unit arrested David Maranon Rodriguez, 35, for trafficking in crystal methamphetamine.

Detectives initiated a narcotics investigation into Rodriguez after they learned he was bringing methamphetamine from the mainland into Key West by bus with the intent of selling it.

On two previous occasions, Rodgriguez sold methamphetamine to undercover operatives.

Detectives intercepted Rodriguez on Simonton Street and took him into custody. He was in possession of an additional 3.03 ounces of methamphetamine.

Rodriguez was charged with the sale of methamphetamine, trafficking in methamphetamine, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

All narcotics were seized along with U.S. currency that was the suspected proceeds from illegal narcotics sales.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
