Man charged with obstructing justice

A 22-year-old Marathon man already in jail for stealing his ex-girlfriend’s phone is facing additional charges after he was heard on a jail phone asking the woman to drop the charges.

Oscar Louis Gonzalez was charged with burglary and robbery on Friday after he forcibly took the woman’s $800 phone from her hands while she was in a pickup truck. He now faces an additional charge of obstructing justice.

Gonzalez proceeded to call the woman seven times on Saturday and three times on Sunday from jail.

Gonzalez can be heard instructing the woman to tell his Public Defender, the Sheriff’s Office and people at the courthouse that she wishes to drop the charges as he could be facing prison time.

Gonzalez remains in jail in lieu of $35,000 bail.
