Man arrested on drug charges

A 27-year-old Miami man was arrested Thursday for possessing more than a pound of marijuana.

Peter James Stansky was charged with resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputy Jennifer Hughes was on patrol at approximately 8:06 a.m. when she exited her vehicle and walked toward the entrance of the Circle K on Big Coppitt Key.

She observed a white Ford with the windows rolled down and the trunk open parked nearby. A strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle.

A man, later identified as Stansky, was sitting in the driver’s seat with a tray in his lap with marijuana in plain view. Stansky appeared to be preparing the marijuana for use.

Stansky initially refused to exit the vehicle.

Approximately 1.3 pounds of marijuana was found in the vehicle.

Stansky was taken to jail.
