Man arrested for sexual assault

A 23-year-old Key Largo man was arrested Thursday night for sexual assault against another man.

Sa Aung Htet Ko was charged with sexual assault by a person 18 or older against another person 18 or older.

The incident occurred on Aug. 8. The suspect and the 26-year-old victim were out with friends at several bars and restaurants in the Upper Keys. The victim became intoxicated to the point where he was falling down and the group’s designated driver — also the victim’s roommate — took him back to their residence. Ko also stayed at their residence for the night.

The victim stated he awoke in his bedroom at one point to find Ko performing oral sex on him without his consent. The victim’s roommate told detectives she was in the living room and saw Ko enter the victim’s bedroom. The witness stated she saw Ko leave the bedroom thereafter. She then saw the victim leave his bedroom, looking confused. The witness stated she noticed the victim’s pants were unbuttoned.

Detectives interviewed Ko. Ko admitted he performed oral sex on the victim. Ko stated he didn’t remember if the victim consented.

A warrant was issued for Ko’s arrest.

Ko was booked into jail Thursday night.
