Man arrested for possessing stolen handgun

 

A 42-year-old Merritt Island, Florida man was arrested Friday for possessing a Ruger .357 Magnum reported stolen out of Titusville, Florida.

 

Michael Christopher Ennis was charged with grand theft of a firearm, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Deputy Alexandria Hradecky stopped black, Ford F-150 pickup truck near Mile Marker 101 on U.S. 1 about 1 p.m. with an obstructed license plate. The driver was identified as Ennis. Ennis told Deputy Alexandria Hradecky that he had a gun in the truck. Ennis also stated he has a concealed weapon permit, which was true. Sgt. Sidney Whitehouse was also at the scene.

 

The truck was searched two handguns were found in a small purse — a Springfield Armory .40-caliber handgun and a Ruger .357 Magnum revolver. Both firearms were loaded. The Ruger was had been reported stolen previously. There were no legal issues with the other handgun.

 

Three marijuana cigars, some marijuana infused candy and a marijuana vape pen were also found in the truck.

 

Ennis was taken to jail.
