Man arrested for possessing fentanyl

A 27-year-old Marathon, Florida man was arrested for possessing fentanyl Tuesday.

Steven Eric Thompson was charged with possession of fentanyl, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Sheriff’s Office was patrolling on Coco Plum Drive in Marathon at approximately 1 a.m. when Thompson was found in a vehicle parked in at a business that was closed. There was a small baggy containing a powdery substance on his lap in plain view.

A total of 3.4 grams of fentanyl and fentanyl mixed with cocaine was found as well as 1.3 grams of marijuana and a melted straw commonly used to ingest narcotics. Thompson was taken to jail.
