Man arrested for fleeing
A 40-year-old West Palm Beach, Florida man was arrested Saturday after nearly hitting a Deputy while fleeing from the Sheriff’s Office on U.S. 1.
Jose Cervantes Barcenas was charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, driving without a valid driver’s license, and expired registration.
Barcenas was driving 102 mph in a Dodge pickup truck near Mile Marker 35 at approximately 10:21 a.m. He failed to pull over for the Sheriff’s Office. Barcenas swerved at one Deputy on the side of the highway who was attempting to employ spike stripes, nearly striking him.
