Man arrested for boat burglaries

A 22-year-old Miami man was arrested Monday for attempting to steal two outboard boat engines from a Key Largo dock.

Dillan Jordan Fernandez-Paz was charged with burglary, larceny and trespassing.

Deputy Jacques Rozek responded to Yacht Club Drive at approximately 12:18 p.m. Monday regarding a boat burglary.

He met with the reporting party who stated he had security video footage of a man attempting to steal dinghy motors on Sunday as well as Monday.

Video from both days showed a man arriving in a white car, later identified as Fernandez-Paz, loosen fuel lines and engine bolts on two separate dinghy engines. He appears to be scared off and unable to steal either engine on both occasions.

As Deputy Rozek was reviewing the video, a white car again pulled into the dinghy dock.

The caller identified the driver as the suspect in the security footage.

Fernandez-Paz was taken into custody.

Fernandez-Paz admitted to attempting to steal the engines. He further stated that if he was able to steal the engines he would have sold them at a Mexican flea market.

Fernandez-Paz was taken to jail.
