Man arrested for battery

A 29-year-old Marathon man was arrested Thursday on a warrant regarding the battery of a woman in October.

Tommy Orlando Alo was charged with battery.

Middle Keys Deputy Victor Morales was called to Fishermen’s Hospital in Marathon on Oct. 20 in reference to a battery. A 37-year-old woman was there with multiple bruises and cuts. One cut to the back of her head required stitches. The woman stated she was at Alo’s house. She stated she often does drugs at Alo’s house as they were in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. She stated in this case, she was in a bathroom there preparing to “shoot up,” when Alo came crashing through the locked door. The woman stated Alo was angry that she was not properly sharing the drugs with him. The woman stated Alo picked her up and slammed her to the floor in addition to slapping, and hitting her multiple times. The woman fled and waved down a passing motorist, who drove her to the hospital. The woman appeared to be under the influence of narcotics.

Meanwhile, multiple deputies responded to Alo’s residence on the 1200 block of Manor Lane. A family member of Alo’s was present and told 911 communications operators he wasn’t going to open the door upon the advice of a lawyer. Deputies heard what may have been a gun being chambered and due to safety concerns, they left without speaking to Alo.

The woman reiterated the incident days later to Middle Keys Sgt. Lisette Quintero after he release from the hospital. Sgt. Quintero noted the woman coherent and lucid during the conversation. Her story remained the same.

Warrants were issued for Alo’s arrest.

Alo was booked into jail on Thursday.
