Man arrested for battery

A 67-year-old Stock Island man was arrested Wednesday for threatening another man with a knife.

Juan Morales Gonzalez was charged with aggravated battery.

Deputies were called to the 6000 block of Peninsular Avenue on Stock Island at approximately 5:46 p.m. regarding an assault. Gonzalez and the 43-year-old male victim were at the scene.

The victim stated he was operating a forklift when Gonzalez exited a pickup truck with a 12-inch knife and threatened him. The victim added he believed this stemmed from a previous incident in which the victim told Gonzalez to leave the property and not return.

Deputy Connor Curry found a knife matching the victim’s description in the pickup truck as well as a white tank top the victim stated Gonzalez was wearing during the incident.

Gonzalez was taken to jail.
