A 52-year-old Marathon man was arrested Wednesday for hitting a woman and holding a knife to her face.

David Burnell Ryan was charged with aggravated assault and battery.

Deputy Imalay Diaz responded to a disturbance on the 1600 block of the Overseas Highway at approximately 2:30 p.m.

There he found a 60-year-old female victim who stated Ryan approached her as she was talking to other people in a vehicle.

She stated Ryan ordered her to leave the area, pushed to her the ground and hit her repeatedly before he pulled out a knife and placed it against her face.

Ryan was found nearby and taken to jail.
