Man arrested after gun incident

A 31-year-old Tavernier, Florida man was arrested Sunday after threatening another man with a shotgun. There were no life-threatening injuries reported.

Peter Nikolaus Giesswein was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The 44-year-old victim stated he works for a tow boat company and was dispatched at approximately 6:41 a.m. to tow a disabled vehicle off-shore. The disabled boat’s operator, later identified as Giesswein, was heavily intoxicated aboard the vessel. The boat was towed back to a residence.

The victim attempted to verify Giesswein’s membership with the tow boat company, but could not. Giesswein became agitated, threatened the victim, and went inside the residence. He reemerged from the residence with a shotgun. He loaded or racked the shotgun, pointed it at the victim, and told him to get off his property.

A shotgun and shells were collected at the scene. Giesswein was taken to jail.
