Local award-winning Young Dance Collective company takes the stage February 3 at Tennessee Williams Theater
On Saturday, February 3 at 7:30pm, CoffeeMill’s Young Dance Collective will take the stage at Tennessee Williams Theater for “An Evening of Dance,” featuring an adaptation of “Chopiniana” (Les Sylphides) with choreography from guest choreographer Joseph Goodman, former professional dancer with Greensboro Ballet, Fort Worth Dallas Ballet (now known as Texas Ballet Theatre), and Paradise Ballet, plus original pieces from their award-winning repertoire under the tutelage of CoffeeMill Dance Studio teacher and company director Kara Querio and CoffeeMill Dance Studio owner Penny Leto.
The one-night-only event showcases the artistry, talent, and dedication of Monroe County’s only pre-professional student dance company, comprised of dedicated students aged 8 -18. Dancers train daily, attending 6 days of class during the week and rehearse on weekends. In addition to performing at the Tennessee Williams Theatre and community venues that include Fantasy Fest’s Coronation and Children’s Day, KWAHS Holiday Bazaar & Concert, street fairs, and nursing homes, The Young Dance Collective travels to dance workshops and competitions and have received gold standard awards and scholarships. Proceeds from the show help support company costs and their scholarship fund.
Young Dance Collective and their “Evening of Dance” is proudly sponsored in part by Merging Ideas Developing Arts (MIDA) and the CoffeeMill Dance Studio. Visit keystix.com for tickets and coffeemilldance.com for more information on events and classes.
