Letter to the Editor / WE NEED TO KNOW

By Roger C. Kostmayer

In order to protect democracy, which is the first responsibility of our government, we the people must be given all the facts.  Refusal to allow testimony from key fact witnesses would clearly reveal a cover up and a sham impeachment trial, and would constitute forfeiting our aspirational goal of a government of, by and for the people.  As Judge Jackson said: Presidents aren’t kings. The principle that no one is above the law must be preserved, and only you and I can do that.

In order to fairly judge if an individual has violated his oath of office and should be removed by impeachment, the House of Representatives must present charges.   Then, two-thirds of the Senate is required to convict based on ALL THE RELEVANT FACTS, TESTIMONY and DOCUMENTS.

A majority of the American people, and of both political parties, say they want a full, fair and transparent impeachment process, which means hearing all the relevant witnesses and testimony.  It would only take about four Republican Senators to vote for hearing key first hand witnesses (like John Bolton, Mick Mulvaney, Counsel McGahn, Secretary of Defense Esper, VP Pence, Secretary Pompeo and perhaps President Trump) to insure we follow our Constitution.

Why would you not want to hear the truth?
