Alabama Republican Senator and former football coach Tommy Tuberville, is a dangerous threat to our national security. He alone is preventing more than 300 senior military leaders, and their families, from assuming our top US military positions. There’s no dispute about the qualifications of these elite officers, the Senate has confirmed each one.
The result of Tuberville’s legislative hold today is serious. For the first time in American history the US Navy, the US Army and the US Marine Corps are without a commandant leader.
The reason for coach Tuberville’s outrageous and self-destructive legislative petulance is his demand that the entire US military comply with his order that no female military or female family member be given transportation assistance for abortions. (Tuberville also opposes giving funds or military support to Ukraine.)
Senator McConnell and all Republican Senators must increase pressure to end this national lunacy by ending Tuberville’s legislative hold.

Since when does the federal government have the authority to use federal tax dollars to thwart state laws. The Tenth Amendment states: “ The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
When the federal Department of Defense undermines Alabama law, who is to speak up if not their senior Senator, Tommy Tuberville?
As to the DOD, let’s hope that the Army, Navy, and Marines have a chain of command, thereby averting a dangerous threat to national security. After all, some terrorist could fly an airliner into the Pentagon, and our nation has been able to respond.
