Letter to the Editor / REASONABLE AND EFFECTIVE

The two national issues that 90% of the American people want resolved quickly and reasonably, that will keep the US government open and about which there is bipartisan agreement, are: protecting the 800,000 innocent young “dreamers”, and providing cost effective border security.

Border security is better now, and illegal immigration is lower now, than it has been in decades, but it can be improved.  If specific employers were required to use electronic payments to their employees, it would identify legal and illegal employees and dramatically reduce illegal immigration at a fraction of the cost of a stupid, medieval, ineffective and incredibly expensive wall.

The conclusion is obvious.  Congress must listen to the American people; pass clean bipartisan DACA and smart border security legislation; produce a bipartisan budget; and then get on with solving our nation’s serious problems.
