Letter to the Editor / JUSTICE FOR ALL
Whether at the national, state or local level, what happens when the majority, the government, politicians and/or the bureaucratic system trample human and civil rights of those least able to defend themselves? When the poor, minorities, immigrants, the less educated, children and those wrongfully caught in the criminal justice system are desperate, who will stand up for them? One current Florida example that’s not commonly understood is the number of people who can’t afford fines or fees (a non-driving problem) but who agree to community service, who are being criminalized by having their driver’s license suspended.
Fortunately, there are non profit and non partisan organizations funded by average citizens, stocked with talented and dedicated individuals who are well versed in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, who inform the public about these transgressions and take on the offending powers by using the rule of law.
The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) is one such organization and it is sponsoring a free and open Town Hall meeting on WEDNESDAY March 27 at 6:30 PM at the Harvey Government Center, on White and Truman. All are welcome and it’s a good opportunity to inform yourself about a number of important issues.
The meeting will be about criminal justice reform and will focus on juvenile justice, immigration, and bail discrimination. Key West Police Chief Sean Brandenburg; Charlotte Nycklemore, chair of the League of Women Voters- Florida Juvenile Delinquency Action Committee; Amanda Velazquez, KW immigration attorney; and KW public defender Jason R. Smith will serve as panelists. Federal Magistrate Judge Lurana Snow will be the moderator.
Don’t miss it.

What a great opportunity to skip attending this montage of leftist propaganda tricks.
“The meeting will be about criminal justice reform…”
Paul should go…
Thank the panel and justice reformers for Paul Manafort.
While you guys insensitively complained about his sentence (under “social justice non-violent Russian Collusion crime”), Manafort negotiated 305 years (per MSM reporting) down to 7.5 years (minus 9 months jail time served.) Manafort did have trouble with bail!
Paul is a right wing crank.
