LETTER TO THE EDITOR / DO THE RIGHT THING AND IGNORE PREDICTIONS
By Roger C. Kostmayer
A recent Konk contributor submitted a lengthy piece about Ukraine and why he opposed the US giving that small nation money or military support to defend its people and country from Putin’s ruthless and criminal assault. His position seemed to be that he was a “pundit” and knew that Putin will win, benefit from a prolonged war and, he predicted, Putin will only want Moldova after Ukraine and there would be no other invasion acquisitions.
I have no interest in beating a dead horse nor to debate predictions. History, Hitler and many dictators should have taught us that failure to unify, support allies and protect vulnerable sovereign nations is an invitation to disaster. Returning to the dark ages of “Might makes right” wars, by rewarding the attackers, makes no sense no matter what the price.
For their sake and ours, and regardless of price, we must insure that Ukraine “wins” and survives.
