BIG PINE KEY, FL – The Koehn and Big Pine Shores Roadway and Drainage Improvements project on Big Pine Key is underway. It includes culvert drainage installation, milling, overlaying existing road surfaces with asphalt concrete pavement, regrading roadway shoulders as drainage swales, pavement markings, and signage.
”This project is going to be a beautiful addition to this community when it is finished, fixing many issues these roads have seen through years of wear and tear,” said Debra London, Monroe County Engineering Services Project Manager.
The design included sea-level rise data and County-provided LiDAR elevation data. The project is partially funded by a Florida Department of Transportation Small County Outreach Program Grant and is expected to be substantially complete in July 2022.
