Key West Historic Seaport to Spotlight Art and Music March 3rd
KEY WEST, Florida Keys — Unique arts and crafts, lively musical entertainment and a day strolling the Key West Historic Seaport await attendees to the 18th annual Open Air Art & Music Affair set for Saturday, March 3.
Headquartered at the Schooner Wharf Bar, 202 William St., the popular event provides a showcase for approximately 50 artists and crafters from the Florida Keys and other locales — as well as local and visiting musicians and bands.
Art exhibitions are from 10 a.m. till sunset. Live music from the Schooner Wharf’s stage is scheduled from 9:30 am until midnight.
Attendees can view and purchase the work of artists and crafters along the harborwalk between Elizabeth and William streets, displayed against the seaport’s colorful panorama of tall ships and excursion vessels.
Artistic offerings are to range from the whimsical to the functional. Items on display typically include decorative window art, woodcarvings, handcrafted jewelry, original oils and actylics, ceramics and painted feathers.
As well as showcasing their wares, participating artists are to provide demonstrations of creativity including jewelry making, painting and glass bead blowing.
Michael McCloud is slated to kick off the day’s live music at 9:30 am, backed by Captain Carl and Professor Pete. Songwriter/humorist McCloud is a veteran of the local music scene whose performances combine insightful original tunes, laid-back showmanship and witty banter.
Featured next is Malcom in the Middle Malcolm a trio playing guitar, percussion and violin, from 2:30 pm – 6:30 pm. They get the audience fully engaged performing their reggae and gypsy infused acoustic folk rock.
Headliner Paul Cotton, of Poco brings his legendary Country Rock performances to the Schooner Wharf stage from 7:00 pm – midnight. These highly entertaining shows include music from Paul’s 40 years as POCO’s lead guitarist, singer, and composer. The recipient of multiple Gold and Platinum records, his hits include “Heart of the Night”, ‘Crazy Love”, “Barbados”, “Indian Summer”, and “Bad Weather”. Cotton Is backed by some of the best local musicians on the island.
Throughout the day both music and art are to complement the vibrant creative atmosphere of the event, the Schooner Wharf Bar and the Key West Historic Seaport.
