Key West Art & Historical Society’s ArtCamp!
Key West Art & Historical Society’s ArtCamp! is held every summer at Fort East Martello, featuring themed weeks with auxiliary activities and excursions that include field trips to local museums, nearby beaches and gardens—all highlighting the abundant history and cultural assets of our islands while encouraging and expanding students in their knowledge of their local community. For more information, visit KWAHS.ORG/LEARN or call Adele Williams, Director of Education at 305.295.6616 extension 115.
Key West Art & Historical Society ArtCamp! students, from left, Vance Bursa, 9, and Kai Woods, 6, hold clay figures representing the year 2017 – a swan, a life-ring, a snake and a hibiscus – while Jordan Starling, 8, shows a fanciful purple seahorse during last week’s “Claymation” workshop. Taught at Fort East Martello by instructor Crystal Smith, the students learned how to plan and produce a stop-motion Claymation film. All the student’s films can be viewed at facebook.com/pg/KWAHSArtCamp/videos.
