Key West Art & Historical Society RFP for the Stabilization and Redevelopment of the former Keys Diesel Plant on upcoming city agenda

On Tuesday, February 20th, Key West Art & Historical Society’s RFP for the Stabilization and Redevelopment of the former Keys Diesel Plant is up for approval of ranking and selection as per the Key West city agenda.

In summary, the Society intends to adapt the Key West Diesel Plant into a multi-use cultural facility, which would include an interactive museum, a restaurant and microbrewery, and a mixed-use space and visual gallery. The goal is to create a cultural center that engages the community and visiting public while preserving the past.

In addition to the detailed description of the proposed is information about the Society’s experience in stabilization and redevelopment projects, references, and business plan.

If approved, City Manager Jim Scholl will be authorized to negotiate and execute a contract in substantial conformance with terms contained in RFP 001-19, including a 20-year property lease, upon consent of the City Attorney, providing for an effective date.

Any questions can be directed to Society Executive Director Michael Gieda at 305-296-6616 extension 103 or [email protected].
