Key West Art & Historical Society Hosts Weekly Drawing Sessions at Fort East Martello Museum
Select your medium of choice and join Annamarie Giordano in Life Drawing sessions at Fort East Martello on Tuesdays beginning November 7 and running through December 11, 2017. Her three-hour workshops, featuring nude models in short and long poses, are open to all levels of artists.
“Life Drawing is the art of drawing the human figure and bringing it to life,” says Giordano. “Every pose is a new challenge and adventure in learning perspective, angle, and light. Regular practice sharpens your drawing skills of observation and your abilities in art overall.”
Giordano is fond of the historic fort as a venue for its natural lighting and history, “and its magic sets a perfect tone for life drawing,” she says.
It also has free parking. She emphasizes that no experience is necessary and “you get to benefit by seeing other artist’s different techniques and mediums, such as watercolors, pencils, charcoal, pastels, and oils.”
A graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Giordano has taught extensively, including the Cape May County Art League, Studios of Key West, Florida Keys Community College, and The San Carlos Institute.
“I take pride in my class by providing wonderful models, creative poses, and 3 hours of continuous drawing, not wasted time or talk about my skills or education,” says Giordano. “Artists leave these sessions with 8 to 10 different drawings.”
Sessions are $25 for members and $30 for non-members. Register online at kwahs.org/event/life-drawing-class or call Adele Williams, Director of Education at 305.295.6616 extension 115. Though drop-ins are welcome, advanced registration is encouraged as is early arrival for set-up. Some materials will be available on site for purchase if needed. Your museums. Your community. It takes an island.
