Key West Art & Historical Society announces new board president and vice president
The Key West Art & Historical Society, one of the region’s oldest cultural organizations that educates the local community and visiting public by preserving, interpreting and exhibiting the art, architecture and history of the Florida Keys through exhibitions and educational offerings at four stewarded museums, announces the appointment of Enid Torregrosa-Silva and Todd Feit as new board president and vice president, respectively.
Torregrosa-Silva fills the vacated seat of Shirrel Rhoades, whose term has concluded. Her experience as a historic preservation planner aligns well with the Society’s position as stewards to the Custom House, Key West Lighthouse & Keeper’s Quarters, and Fort East Martello. The former State Historic Preservation Officer for Puerto Rico’s Governor’s Cabinet has been the city of Key West’s Historic Preservation Planner for the last decade, and has more than 27 years of experience in both government and private sectors in all aspects of historic preservation, including public policy development, federal, state, and local regulation compliance for historic building construction, and historic districts management. Additionally, she has overseen and managed complex restoration projects for significant buildings listed in the National Register of Historic Places as well as World Heritage sites recognized by UNESCO.
“As the new president, I want to contribute to inspiring younger generations to join us in keeping alive the connection to our past,” she says. “I see our institution, driven with an active board of directors and a dynamic, committed staff, as a fusion of multi-generational citizens that value the social responsibility we have in our hands of protecting and perpetuating the Florida Keys’ remarkable history.”
“Island Love Story” business owner & social media marketer Todd Feit has been an active Society board member since 2014 and has helped brand the organization via his photography and social media savvy as the Society has grown in its reach and programming.
“The Society’s mission is to preserve the rich history that is woven throughout the island,” he says. “Its importance is priceless. In 2020 we will have some exciting announcements to make that will further explain our unique history to all who visit this great island we are so fortunate to live on.”
