Jenkins Selected Employee of the Quarter
During this week’s City Commission meeting, Human Resources Director Bridget Flores announced the first Employee of the Quarter for 2024.
Floyd Jenkins, Executive Assistant to the Chief of Police was awarded the honor.
“Our winner has been described as charismatic, empathetic and inspiring in his approach to serving the City of Key West both on and off the clock,” said Flores. “Volunteering throughout the city he can be found plogging, fundraising for the Love Fund, participating in Smart Ride, or volunteering for Florida Keys SPCA.
“But ‘Pepa’s Books for Tots’ is his personal yearly mission,” she said, “to make sure every student at Poinciana Elementary School receives a new book to read during the holiday break.”
This effort by Jenkins is part of his partnership with Keys to Be the Change in a mission to empower young people through education and literacy.
In addition to his outstanding volunteerism, Flores noted that in his role with the KWPD he ensures timely responses to citizens, works with staff, and has a smile for everyone who walks into the office.
Jenkins was chosen by the Employee Committee from nine nominees, all of whom, Flores noted, received superior marks from their supervisors for their ability to excel in their position and inspire their co-workers. Employees are evaluated on their contributions during the quarter, supervisor scores, nominations, and performance evaluations.
