“It’s in the Bag!” Exhibition Opening on January 4 Unleashes Creative Chaos at The Studios of Key West

This lively and irreverent exhibit, produced by the imaginative writer Kevin Assam, invites Key West artists to toss convention aside and reimagine the “bags and baggage” that color their daily lives.

Visitors to the exhibition can expect a wild ride through the creative minds of favorite Key West artists, including the likes of John Martini, David Lawrence Hemingway, Sandra Williams, Qmitch, Kristyn LaMoia, Jack McDonald, Gayle Antonides, Joanne Klein, Elle Irwin, Faith Price, and Lauren McAloon, plus others. This dynamic ensemble of painters, sculptors, and designers promises to turn the deceptively simple theme of the exhibition into a celebration of individual expression.

“I asked artists to consider two words: bags and baggage,” said organizer Kevin Assam. “Some people went all in on the fashion and statement of their work and literally created bags, which are practical and wonderful. Others paid beautiful homage to their pasts and futures with unexpected mediums.”

The Studios of Key West, known for its vibrant arts community, invites locals and visitors to experience the creative spectacle. The opening reception on January 4th promises an evening filled with laughter, inspiration, and a chance to connect with the artists behind the madness.
