Italian Night at the Movies film series to raise funds for youth scholarships
The Sons and Daughters of Italy Key West Lodge #2436 has teamed up with the Tropic Cinema to raise funds for their 2025 scholarship fund for area High School seniors of Italian descent, with a special film night to be held on the first Wednesday of each month over the next several months.
The “Italian Night at the Movies” series kicks off on Wednesday, Nov. 6, with “It Started in Naples,” starring Sophia Loren and Clarke Gable. Released in 1960, the film is in English with some Italian, and takes place in Naples, Italy and Capri. Days before his wedding, a Philadelphia lawyer travels to Naples in Southern Italy to settle the estate of his late brother, only to find that he has an Italian nephew who is being cared for by his maternal aunt, a cabaret singer. Doors open at 5:30 pm, movie starts at 6:15 pm and includes a taste of Italy before the film. The evening will also include a chance drawing for a Brighton Tote and two tickets for admission to another Italian movie in the series.
