ISLAMORADA COMMUNITY GARDEN AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF ISLAMORADA (FBCI) OFFERS EDUCATIONAL CLASSES TO THE PUBLIC
MONROE COUNTY, FL – The Islamorada community garden at FBCI is located at 81201 Overseas Highway directly behind the Islamorada Food Bank. This garden was established in 2013.
To celebrate the gardens 10-year anniversary, they would like to share the knowledge and experience accumulated in growing food here in the Florida Keys. With issues like inflation and food insecurities, it is an ideal time for everyone to learn how to grow food.
On January 14, 2023, the Islamorada Community Garden will be having an open house, along with 2 educational classes on how to grow food in the Florida Keys. The classes will be at 10am and 2pm in the garden. Each class will be one hour long and have live examples of the following:
1) Growing Sprouts and Microgreens ,
2) Growing Vegetables
3) Soil and Compost.
After each class there will be a time for “Questions and Answers”. The event is free, however donations to the Food Bank are encouraged.
