Invitation to Monroe County Integrated Warning Team Workshop

Concerning:  Integrated Warning Team Workshop
Where:  Marathon Fire Rescue Station #14 – Conference Room
When:  Tuesday, July 18th, 2017, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm
Greetings,
The NWS Florida Keys in cooperation with Monroe County Emergency Management is pleased to invite you to a first-ever Integrated Warning Team Workshop, to be held at the Marathon Fire Rescue Station #14 – Conference Room beginning at 9:00 am on Tuesday, July 18th, 2017.
This initial workshop will be mostly informational, but focus on communications and services during severe weather and hurricanes. In addition, we will explore topics in social science focused on how tropical storm and hurricane products from the National Hurricane Center are interpreted, as well as provide an update on GIS mapping services already being used in both hazardous weather products and assessments.
We hope to conduct these workshops annually, where we can begin to focus on specific topics, be it communication to the public or to address a specific hazard, such as rainfall-induced flooding.
There is no cost to attend this workshop. It will be conducted by your local National Weather Service Forecast Office and Monroe County Emergency Management.
Please view the attached invitation and agenda for the workshop. We kindly request RSVP to Jon Rizzo, Warning Coordination Meteorologist, (305-295-1316 x223 or [email protected]v). Please include your e-mail and contact phone number. Should attendance through the RSVPs be greater than expected, the workshop will be moved to a larger venue within the City of Marathon.
