Interview: South Florida Unsung Hero Uses Animals to Help Children and Veterans
Making a difference in the lives of those with special needs, foster children, veterans, and at-risk youth through her profound equestrian therapy programs, sensory petting zoo, farm tours, and horse riding lessons/clinics. We would love to arrange an unforgettable interview with you and West Palm Beach’s nationally renowned philanthropist Karin Taylor, whose jaw-dropping Weisberg Stables in Jupiter, FL is a 20 acre home to over 150 animals including mustangs, pigs, rabbits pigs, chickens, tortoises, goats, goats, ponies, emus, and even wallabies.
One of Karin’s most celebrated programs is calledUnbridled Power, a one of a kind equine assisted learning horse therapy program that focuses on helping veterans, disabled youth, and children develop critical life skills. Equine assisted learning is a remarkable learning approach that promotes the development of essential life skills through groundwork activities using horses as the teacher. This type of therapy has been proven to be more effective than talk therapy, and is especially beneficial for children with Autism.
Weisberg Stables provides a loving environment for all animals, in turn providing a stable environment for children with special needs. Karin is hands on when it comes to taking care of all her animals. Exciting new enclosures have been built, wallabies have been recently adopted and Karin’s day to day consists of training, teaching, and caring for all of the animals. Karin wouldn’t be able to run this amazing farm without the help of local volunteers and hardworking employees.
Karin can discuss what she offers the community at Wesiberg Stables, including:
- How animals communicate verbally and non-verbally and what we can learn from them
- The science of animal training
- How animals are being used to help children and the science behind it
- How mustangs are being used to help Veterans and At-Risk Youth
- How Equine Assisted Learning is helping to teach at risk youth and children in foster care
Not only does Karin own and operate Weisberg Stables, she also established the Weisberg Family Foundation to help those in need through volunteerism and financial support. The programs developed through the foundation focus on helping children develop literacy skills, give education to children in the Dominican Republic, and provide volunteer opportunities for children ages 5-17. “Vanessa’s Wish” was created for children under the age of 5 with a terminal diagnosis or Juvenile Neurodegenerative disease to be able to have an expense free vacation in Orlando, Florida. The foundation also recently set up a trip to Universal Studios for 60 underprivileged children.
This spring, Karin will be offering chickens to local nursing homes who would like to have a community coop for their residents as well as offering visits to her farm. Karin feels strongly about providing volunteer opportunities for young people to allow them the opportunity to experience empathy and service and show them that they can make a difference in the world and allow them the opportunity to experience empathy and service.
Karin has always been passionate about family and animals and believes that it’s important to give time, talent, and resources to those in need. She, along with her husband, love seeing the joy their animals can bring to others. She is a longtime partner with the Salvation Army, serves the Hart for Horses organization as a board member and donates generous grants to individuals and organizations that align with her mission. Karin currently resides in Jupiter, Florida with her husband and 5 homeschooled children. The entire family is involved in volunteer work in their own organization and within their community.
We would love to arrange an interview with you and Karin Taylor to discuss her philanthropic career, family, and upcoming adventures on the farm and can be reached here at[email protected] or at 323-655-1008. Thank you and we look forward to hearing your thoughts!
