In Conversation With…Sharon McGauley Gallery Talk at Jag Gallery October 16th

Jag Gallery announces another in its series of gallery talks welcoming artist Sharon McGauley, currently on view in the gallery’s first exhibit of the new season WELCOME BACK , on Wednesday,  October 16th at 5:30.

Sharon, no stranger to the Key West art community, opened the former Lemonade Stand Art Studio in Bahama Village partnering with friend, fellow artist and Jag Gallery founder Letty Nowak in 2001. She is an internationally recognized artist, found in prestigious private and public collections and in museums and galleries in the US and abroad, and has been the recipient of multiple grants and residencies.

Known for her richly layered, evocative oil paintings utilizing simple palettes and subtle tones, Sharon’s land and seascapes are grounded deeply in a sense of place where her portraits, on the other hand, capture the essence and personality of a wide variety of people, both real and imagined, often with a tongue in cheek hilarity.  Today Sharon lives and paints in Portland, Maine and in addition to Jag is represented by galleries on Maui and Cape Cod.   WELCOME BACK is on view through October 27th.  Find Sharon’s work online by visiting jaggallery.art and clicking on the shop the gallery page.

All gallery events are free and open to the public.

Considered a top destination featuring fine, contemporary art showcasing work of prominent artists from Key West and beyond, Jag Gallery is located at the Simonton Street entrance to Duval Square, 1075 Duval Street with ample, free parking.  Gallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday noon – 5 and always by appointment.  For additional information call 305.407.6202 or email [email protected] and follow us on Facebook and  Instagram at jaggallery.art
