HURRICANE IRMA-DAMAGED LIGHTING REPLACEMENT ONGOING AT BIG PINE KEY COMMUNITY PARK
BIG PINE KEY, FL – The Hurricane Irma-damaged lighting at Big Pine Key Community Park was replaced with state-of-the-art LED lights and lights have been turned on at the baseball field, playground area, basketball and bocce courts, skatepark, and parking lot. The project started last month and will continue with the walkway lighting.
“I am so very excited that the lights are turned on at Big Pine Community Park,” said Michelle Coldiron, Monroe County District 2 Commissioner. “This is good news for the families and community members who utilize this park in the evenings.”
The lights will be on from dusk until the park closes at 9 p.m. nightly.
Also, the ballfield lights at Harry Harris Park in Key Largo, which received extensive damage from Hurricane Irma, will be finished before the end of the year.
“This ongoing project has been a team effort between project management and public works,” said Cary Knight, Monroe County Director of Project Management. “We are excited to light up Big Pine Community Park and get Harry Harris Park’s ballfields lit again.”
