Human Trafficking Trainings/Informatio
The Monroe County Human Trafficking Task Force, in collaboration with Citrus Health Network, Inc and the Chance Program, both of Miami are planning upcoming trainings and informational sessions on the issue of Human Trafficking. This presentation provides an overview of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC), definitions, scope of the problem, risk factors, and indicators of exploitation. It will also include the impact this trauma has on children. Emphasis will be placed on key strategies to engage survivors into services and provide support throughout their healing journey.
Key West

1:30 – 2:30 pm: This training is geared toward people working in nonprofit agencies, faith leaders and community leaders.
5:30 pm – 7:00 pm: For the general public.

Tuesday March 24th at Marathon Community United Methodist Church 3010 Overseas Hwy, Marathon, FL 33050
1:00 pm – 3:00 pm: This training is intended for all those interested in Human Trafficking: For people working in nonprofit agencies; faith leaders and members; community leaders; and community members.

We are happy to introduce our presenter: Maria Clara Harrington, MS Training and Outreach Coordinator for the CHANCE program in Miami. For more than 18 years, Maria Clara Harrington has been serving young survivors of sexual abuse, sexual exploitation and sex trafficking through counseling, advocacy and outreach. At the Chance Program, she is in a role that enables her to combine her understanding and compassion for survivors, with her skills as an educator, to raise awareness and understanding of child sex trafficking. Maria Clara led the launch of the first drop in center for young female survivors of sex trafficking in Miami. For five years she oversaw the day-to-day operations of the drop in center and lead a dedicated team of professionals working around the clock to provide support, mental health and enrichment services to child survivors of sexual exploitation and sex trafficking.
Maria Clara holds a master’s degree in School Counseling from NOVA Southeastern University.
