Hughes Leads in Fundraising
KEY WEST — Key West businessman Danny Hughes leads all candidates in fundraising according to reports filed with the Supervisor of Elections.
At the campaign kick-off party on February 22nd, over 300 folks came out to show their support. Inspired by Danny’s progressive plan for positive change, Hughes’ finance report reads like a who’s who of community activists, civic leaders, artists, and business people.
Among Hughes’ supporters are St. Mary’s Deacon Peter Batty and his wife Ellen, Scott Cates - brother of Key West Mayor Craig Cates, Banker Kermit Lewin, Musician Howard Livingston, Star of the Sea Mission’s Tom Callahan, and Fishing Boat Captain Jeremy Downs.
Danny’s lifelong love of service is evident in all he does. A resident of Ann Street, Danny Hughes has lent his talents to a number of local causes, leading successful campaigns for charitable organizations including Kids Come First, The Bahama Village Music Program, and Samuel’s House.
The $14,000 raised by the campaign in February brings Hughes’campaign contribution total to over $30,000 so far. Danny Hughes’ next campaign event is a free dock party and $25 sunset sail on Sebago from 6-8pm on Sunday, March 18th.
