RST back at The Hog’s Breath Saloon
RST, the popular California band is back at the Hog’s Breath Saloon, 400 Front St., for an extended gig from Feb. 12 through 18. The band, Geoffrey Rutledge, Lennox Smith, and John Tindel will be playing the mid-shift gig, 5:30- 9:30 p.m.
RST may call Santa Cruz, Ca. home these days, but the band has its roots firmly planted in the Cayo Hueso. Longtime locals will remember Geoffrey Rutledge as a talented solo performer, or a duo with local singer-songwriter Joel Nelson, or as a member of the trio “Another Roadside Attraction.”
Rutledge joined forces with Tindel in the mid ‘80s to form “Beyond the Reef” playing the hot spots on Duval St.
Later, Rutledge relocated to Santa Cruz and formed “Two Left Hands” with vocalist and composer Lennox Smith. When the duo next swung through Key West, Tindel who was playing across the street jumped up and sat in. As the three locked into three-part harmony for the first time, sparks flew and they knew they’d have to form a band. And so the ever-fertile Petri dish that is Key West spawned another band – RST.
Heart felt three-part harmonies, propelled by layers of acoustic and electric guitars and piano, form the center piece of their sound, with forays into Americana, rock ‘n’ roll, country, as well as the inevitable tropical influences from living and playing in the Keys for so long.

Siocháin,
I can resist everything but temptation.
The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it.
