Help sought in gas station smash-and-grab 

Deputies are asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect in the early Monday morning burglary of the Dion’s Quik Mart on Summerland Key.

Deputies arrived at 2:28 a.m. regarding an alarm at the business. The front glass door had a hole in it and the door appeared to be unlocked.

Video footage showed a suspect smash the glass door with an unknown object at 2:26 a.m. The suspect’s arm was then seen through the hole in the glass as the suspect then unlocked the door. The suspect then entered the store.

The suspect was described as a white male about six feet tall with a medium build. He was dressed in a grey shirt, black pants, grey shoes with white soles, white belt and black ball cap. He had a black backpack and he was wearing a blue surgical mask.

The suspect can be seen going around the checkout and straight to the electronic cigarettes. The suspect steaks about $200 in nicotine vape cartridges. The door will cost about $500 to repair.

The suspect was in the store for less than a minute and left on foot, southbound on U.S. 1.
