Hammers Honored for Years of Service

Commissioners Lissette Carey and Jimmy Weekley, Sgt. Jesse Hammers and Mango, Vice Mayor Sam Kaufman, and Commissioners Clayton Lopez and Billy Wardlow. Commissioner Mary Lou Hoover was in attendance via Zoom.

The City of Key West and the City Commission this month recognized Sgt. Jesse Hammers for his ten years of dedicated service to the Key West Police Department.

Sgt. Hammers started with the Key West Police Department in 2014. Born and raised in Key West, he is the son of a retired Key West Police officer and a current member of the department’s Criminal Investigations Unit. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2019. He works with his K9 partner Mango.

Sgt. Hammers serves as the program coordinator for the Key West Police Athletic League and is the founder and driving force behind the annual Mango Fest, which benefits PAL.
