Grand opening of new gallery Shade & Shutter
Shade Ceramics and Shutter Photography features locally crafted ceramics and photography in the White St. gallery district of Key West
Mark Klammer and Sarah Carleton are pleased to announce the grand opening of their new gallery Shade Ceramics and Shutter Photography on Friday, February 1, 2019 at
5:00–8:00 pm at 1102 White St. in Key West, Florida. The celebration will include libations and favors. All are welcome to attend.
Shade & Shutter features the modern functional ceramics of Mark Klammer and the Key West photography of Sarah Carleton. The gallery includes a serene showroom as
well as a working ceramics studio where Mark creates his pieces before your eyes. Mark started working in ceramics in the 1990s in Ithaca, NY. After meeting Sarah, he
moved to Hammondsport, NY and started Mark Klammer Pottery. Mark became a Roycroft artisan and participated in many prestigious art shows throughout the
Northeast, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show. He has also won several awards.
Sarah has loved and practiced photography for decades. Since retiring from the corporate world in 2014, she has focused on creating a body of work featuring the
quiet beauty of Key West, especially the natural stillness within Fort Zachary Taylor State Park. The large-format photographs are printed on aluminum, giving them a
depth and radiance, as well as a modern look.
